"My Town" BOM Stitch-a-Long

This is a for-fun blog, and I'd love for you to join me.

I'm going to be doing the new Homespun Magazine 2011 BOM called "My Town" which will support the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia. The first block is in Homespun 12.3. I'd also like to thank Homespun Magazine for allowing me to use their images for this blog.

It is finished at last...

After 3 years of sewing and putting off quilting, my "My Town" is finished. I am very happy with the end result and I showed it to my friend who is the mum of the intended recipient and she was able to gush appropriately and say that Louise would be thrilled with it. This is a 21st birthday gift and I am so glad that I can tick this off the UFO list!( some miscalculation on the borders but all in all a good result)

Almost there

Today I have sewn 63 buttons onto the blocks that need them. I am quilting this myself using the modular quilting technique ( Mocha quilt by Deb Layt) and am quite pleased with the end results. I aim to have it done by Jan so it can be given as a 21st present to my daughter's friend. The school house I changed a bit.
The florist shop I didn't use felt so lots of buttons.
my centre block courtesy of "Matilda's Station" quilt.
The tea house which would be my favourite block. Yeah nearly done. I hope some others have taken as long as me to finish this!!!

Karen's top is quilted

Karen brought in her gorgeous My Town quilt to show us now that it has been quilted. It is absolutely beautiful and Robyn has done a wonderful job of the quilting. Feeling a bit motivated to get my blocks out again! There are some closeups below of the lovely blocks and the quilting.Karen is peaking around the side of the quilt.

I finally finished the stitching on my home block yesterday.....
Trimmed it back to 20 inches ready to add the borders.....
Not the best pics as I took them last night....
I think I will stitch a vine and flowers around the verandah post....
What do you think?????
I also added a small border to frame the block
before I sewed on the three rows of squares....
I am much happier with this block than I would
have been with the one in the Homespun Magazine.....
This is a pic of the one from the original quilt.....
I just think it all seemed to get lost in there....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

My Town Home Block

This is the block I have decided to use
instead of the one in the magazine.....
Over the past few days I have completed some of the applique....

All the applique is done on the house and trees.....
I hope to get some of the fence done later this afternoon.....
It is too nice a day today to stay inside, even if I am
out mowing the lawns and pegging washing on the line......
This is my block so far.....
I hope to own a cute little house like that one day.....
What is everyone else up to with there quilts?
It would be nice to see some progress girls....
Until next time, Happy Stitching
